PES personnel conducted a Hazardous Materials Survey of a 900,000 square foot (SF) hospital and research facility located in San Francisco. The buildings were decommissioned and slated for demolition. The objective of the project was to document and quantify all chemical and material hazards and carry out the testing to assess the risks during demolition. The survey included asbestos, lead based paint, lead-lined walls, biohazards, mercury in P-traps and gauges, stored chemicals (biocides, paints, oils, etc.), heavy metals in fluorescent lights, PCBs in light ballasts, hydraulic oils and sealants and radioactive wastes.
