Closure Evaluation, Investigation and Remediation of Hydraulic Oil Release at a Former Manufacturing Facility

At this former can-manufacturing site, PES evaluated environmental conditions as part of facility closure. The results of this evaluation identified a release of hydraulic and cooling oils from a plate-shearing operation which had affected subsurface soil and groundwater.

PES investigated the release to determine its distribution and character. The investigation information was used to design and install a free product recovery system which removed free-phase oils from the water table. The system operated for three years and successfully removed a significant quantity of oil from the water table in the affected area. PES worked with the local regulatory agency to obtain closure of this issue.
